Canstruction Gala

Teams of local architects compete to build creative structures using canned goods and nonperishable food items. Judging is by a celebrity panel including Councilman Arnie Fielkow, and winners will be announced at the Canstruction gala on Saturday. The installations will be on display through Oct. 11, and food items will then be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans. The party features entertainment by Judy Spellman and Company and food by restaurants including the Pelican Club, Salvatore's, Slice, Liberty's Kitchen and others. The competition is sponsored by the New Orleans chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Gala tickets $25 general admission, $15-$20 AIA members. — Will Coviello
