Barely there, it definitely shimmers, changing with the light. "It" is an installation of 3,650 clear, thin mylar microfilament lines, each suspending a chrome steel fishing weight just above the floor. A constellation of other beads and weights suspended at various heights increases the total to 8,000. Is it a style statement, meditation or secret message? The Virgin Mary does not appear, but when seen from the right angle, the beads form an outline of the furnishings in the artists' flooded former den. Mike McKay and Liz Swanson McKay are co-directors of the Kentucky New Orleans Architecture Studio, and
Cloudline is their translation of their flooded abode into a new dimension of space and light. A great piece, complemented by Sally Heller's nearby
Fly Space installation, it's viewable on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by appointment. --
