Come Into the Light

Winning hearts and minds is one thing. Taking turf is another. Giuseppe Puglisi is sent to the town of Brancaccio by the archbishop of Palermo to help its youth. Within a couple of years, he builds a community center, but to really help the kids, he needs to do more than get them off the streets. Soon he is working against the local mafia, which isn't about to back down. The award-winning Alla Luce del Sole (Come Into the Light) by Roberto Faenza is based on a true story. This screening is presented by the New Orleans Film Society. In Italian with English subtitles. Tickets $7.50, $6.50 NOFS members. --ÊWill Coviello
