Alison Fensterstock, longtime Gambit correspondent, is moving on to become a contributor to The Times-Picayune and the paper's Internet arm, www.nola.com. This week's Gambit includes her final column.
In the last few years, Alison has written some of Gambit's most widely read music and culture features, including her cover stories on the sissy-rap phenomenon and the closing of legendary Bourbon Street strip club Big Daddy's. In 2008, she won the New Orleans Press Club award for "Best Column" for her music coverage in Gambit.
Alison's writings about rock, roots and soul music have appeared in Paste, MOJO and Ms. magazines. She was also the longtime fill-in DJ for Billy Delle's "Records From the Crypt" show on WWOZ-FM and is a program coordinator for the Ponderosa Stomp music festival.
All of us at Gambit will miss her contributions. Best of luck, Alison.
