Dinosaur Jr.

All I'm saying is that this has the trappings of being the cruelest April Fools joke ever, but all sources say the original Dinosaur Jr. lineup is indeed on tour and appearing here on April 1. The band that saved the fuzzbox and the guitar solo from extinction in the heady alternative era is riding the wave of having pretty much their entire back catalog reissued (Green Mind and Where You Been are getting the deluxe Rhino treatment in May; Bug, Dinsoaur and You're Living All Over Me were put back into play by Merge in March). Word around the campfire has it that J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph can still bring the Neil Young-meets-noise-punk ragged glory like back in the day. This is one blast from the past that can still hold its bongwater, so definitely dig out your flannel and see one of the greatest bands of the past 20 years do its thing. Also on the bill are heavy-rock stallions Dead Meadow and Priestess. Tickets $22. -- Alex V. Cook
