Dirty Linen Night

What could be more bohemian than a night of art, drinks, rambling around the French Quarter and airing a little dirty linen? Dirty Linen Night is a casual evening of gallery hopping and socializing on Royal Street and Dutch Alley. The event was initiated six years ago to echo the popularity of White Linen Night, the Warehouse District's similar but dressier art event. Gallery owners and local artists wanted to remind locals that there is more to the French Quarter than antiques and souvenir shops. Artists will be onhand to discuss their work and many galleries provide complimentary food and drinks, including the event's signature dirty martinis and dirty rice. Fredy Omar will play outside the Dutch Alley Artists' Co-op in the French Market. The evening also serves as opening night to New Orleans Fiber Artists, an exhibit at Dutch Alley showcasing the craft of 12 local artisans who work with textiles. Everything from dolls and quilts to wearable art will be displayed. Free admission. -- Emily Hohenwarter
