Keynote speaker Gen. Russel Honore and flood mitigation experts and policymakers address Building Resilience: Implementing Innovative, Sustainable Flood Mitigation Solutions for the Gulf Coast, a conference discussing the threats of living near water, and how to create sustainable solutions for New Orleans and other vulnerable communities throughout the Gulf Coast.
Elizabeth C. English of the Buoyant Foundation Project, which develops strategies for flood-proofing New Orleans homes, wants to highlight Europe's mitigation techniques and how to overcome administrative and governmental obstacles. Other speakers include experts on amphibious housing and alternative levee systems, as well as representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA, FutureProof, Groundwork New Orleans, Lower 9th Ward Center for Sustainable Engagement and Development, and Our School at Blair Grocery, among others.
