The World of Beer chain opens its first Louisiana location in Metairie this week and hosts a NOLA Brewing tapping event. Irish Channel Stout with optional infusions will be available all day, and at 6 pm. there will be a tapping of a mystery firkin and an aged sour stout.

The ninth annual Tales of the Cocktail holiday event features more than 45 local bartenders competing in a cocktail contest, and there is an award for the best dish from participating restaurants. John Lisi and Delta Funk performs. Tickets $40.
