Freret Street Festival and Homeownership Fair

After the Freret Street Festival, everyone will want to buy a home in the neighborhood. The three-stage event at Freret Street and Napoleon Avenue will feature Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue (pictured), the Hot 8, New Birth and Soul Rebels brass bands, Sunpie & Louisiana Sunspots, Morning 40 Federation, Papa Grows Funk, Zydepunks, Vavavoom, Jo "Cool" Davis, Wild Mohicans Mardi Gras Indians and many more. There is also a kids' area with dance, music, games and hands-on activities. The event is produced by Neighborhood Housing Services, which provides assistance to first-time homebuyers. A Home Ownership Fair is part of the event and festival-goers can get information about buying a home. Free admission. -- Will Coviello
