Porter is president of JP Renovations LLC (by appointment, 309-2098), which performs complete home renovations, including interior design, with a quick turnaround of a month to a month and a half in most cases.
"We can take a house from start to finish in about four to six weeks, a complete renovation" even if the house was flooded, says Porter, who has operated JP Renovations since 1992. "Something like in Lakeview, where it's got to be totally wired and has to go through the politics ... is a different thing. That would probably be about three months start to finish."
Part of the reason JP Renovations can get jobs done so quickly is that Porter has brought in crews from out of town to supplement his regular workers so "there's nothing we can't handle right now." In addition, sister company, Creative Concepts, can perform all the interior design work, including picking colors for inside and outside walls, furniture and other finishing touches.
"They can just call one person," he says of homeowners who want help with everything from repairing and renovating to furnishing a house. "We're also very reasonable and dependable, and we have the ability to see the job and get it done from start to finish.
"We are locally owned and locally supervised. I personally manage the entire operation. We take a lot of pride in what we do, and we have a lot of love for New Orleans."
Canal Place Is Back

The shopping center is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
