Jai Uttal

New York-born Jai Uttal delved into a form of yoga chanting and eventually moved to India to study and hone his talents as a Sanskrit mantra interpreter. He fused the chanting and Indian instrumentation with American roots and pop music and released a series of new age albums, many with his Pagan Love Orchestra (2002's Mondo Rama was nominated for a Grammy). He performs at Tulane Friday (8:30 p.m. Lavin Bernick Center), and his album Thunder Love drops in late March.
