With spare acoustic accompaniment and a flickering slur that seems to live between notes, Texas torch-singer Jolie Holland (ex-Be Good Tanyas) blurs the bolded lines between alt-country, cool jazz, indie pop and roots rock. 2008's The Living and the Dead (Anti-), a typically lovely effort featuring production and guitar work by M.
