Kebab (2315 St. Claude Ave., 504-383-4328; www.kebabnola.com) is now open in an eye-catching, primary colored building on St. Claude Avenue. Inspired by the German street food popular from Berlin to Strasbourg, Kebab's namesake sandwich, the doner kebab, anchors a small menu. Kebab's take on the dish features spit-fired rotisserie pork, cucumbers, cabbage and a choice of skhug (spicy cilantro sauce), tzatziki or other sauces. A falafel dish and jalapeno roasted pork sandwich (the daily special) round out the entrees, and side options include Belgian fries, hummus and salad.
Kebab's space is part dining area, part art gallery, with colorful work by local artists covering one half of the building and a thin wall separating it from the dining space.
The restaurant is open from 3 p.m. to midnight Friday through Monday. Kebab is currently BYOB, with cocktail set-ups available.
