Naughty Professor album release
Fri. April 10 | The jazz-influenced instrumental sextet's latest release is Out on a Limb (Ropeadope Records), which swings from multi-layered brass to ecstatic, driving funk. Sun. April 12 | Dick Dale's trembling Fender Stratocaster is the sound of every landlubber who's ever tried standing on a surfboard; his Del-Tones' roiling fills the sound of anyone who's ever sustained it. Turning 78 in May, The King of the Surf Guitar is still riding high. At 9 p.m. at The Howlin' Wolf.
Mon. April 13 | Named after a Wilco lyric, this Raleigh, North Carolina, band hews closer to the wider-brim stylings of Jeff Tweedy's original outfit, Uncle Tupelo. Its fifth LP, 2012's Burn. Flicker. Die., was produced by Jason Isbell; a self-released sixth, Wolves, arrived in February. The Eastwood Smokes open at 9 p.m. at One Eyed Jacks.
