April 24 | With this month's triumphant Here and Nowhere Else (Carpark), Cleveland's Cloud Nothings have their fourth escalation in as many years, a half-hour blast of abrasive emotion and upbraided guitar fury strung together with chain-link hooks. Ryley Walker and Donovan Wolfington open at 9 p.m. at Gasa Gasa.
Mac DeMarco with Caddywhompus
Fri. April 25 | At the obtuse intersection of Ariel Pink and Kurt Vile lies Mac DeMarco, an unwashed Canadian whose filthy stage presence and no-effort recordings belie the melodies and machinations of a schlock-pop savant. His third album, Salad Days (Captured Tracks), arrived on April Fools' Day. Caddywhompus opens Tulane University's "TGIOver" concert at 4 p.m. at the Lavin-Bernick Quad.
Instruments a Comin'
Mon. April 28 | The Tipitina's Foundation event raises funds to buy instruments for New Orleans-area school bands. Performers include Terence Blanchard, Galactic, Anders Osborne, Dumpstaphunk, Nathan and the Zydeco Cha-Chas, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Bonerama, New Orleans Suspects and others. WWOZ Piano Night
