Big Freedia
Feb 27 | The once and future Queen of Bounce celebrates a birthday bash with fellow knights of the bounce table DJ Jubilee and Katey Red. The second season of Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce — Big Freedia's reality TV show on the Fuse network — airs in June. Hassizle, Danger Boys and DJ Lil Man open at 10 p.m. at Republic New Orleans.

Absu
Fri. Feb 28 | Maniacal Dallas-based metal band Absu obliterated Celtic mythology (replete with bagpipes) on 2002's Tara, then took the next eight years off. Its 2011 release Abzu (Candlelight) — not to be confused with Absu (2009) or the forthcoming Apsu — teeters on ridiculously dextrous lead guitar by Norwegian fret warlock Ru ne "Blasphemer" Eriksen. The Black Mariah, Abysmal Lord and Barghest open at 10 p.m. at Siberia.

3D Na'Tee
Sat. March 1 | New Orleans MC 3D Na'Tee's big breaks came after shutting down Kendrick Lamar in a freestyle battle at South by Southwest in March 2013 and working with Def Jam Digital's hip-hop kingmakers Steve Rifkind and Russell Simmons. She is preparing a release date for The Regime, her follow-up to 2012's breakout mixtape The Coronation. At 10:30 p.m. at House of Blues.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
Sun. March 2 | Trombone Shorty's seventh annual post-Bacchus party features bounce artist 5th Ward Weebie — whose 2013 radio earworm "Let Me Find Out" is the ultimate ex diss track — and 2014 Grammy Award nominees Hot 8 Brass Band, which received its first-ever nod (but ultimately lost) for the The Life and Times of... The Hot 8 Brass Band. At 11 p.m. at Tipitina's.

Bantam Foxes
Mon. March 3 | As a make-good for their Kickstarter contributors — who pitched in $1,600 to press the New Orleans band's full-length debut, Triumph — twin frontmen Sam and Collin McCabe rerecorded the album as an acoustic blues piece. Prom Date and Baby Bee open at Circle Bar.
