Jan. 29 | The Krewe of King James (a James Brown-themed dance crew of Super Bad Sex Machine Strollers founded and captained by New Orleans' funk queen DJ Soul Sister) hosts its annual ball featuring The Robert Glasper Experiment. The jazz and R&B pianist and bandleader released Black Radio 2, the sequel to the 2012 Grammy Award winner, in 2015. Chapter:SOUL also performs at 9 p.m. at Gasa Gasa.
King Soul, Creole String Beans and $1,000 Car

Jan. 30 | A throwback showcase, the bill features new old-New Orleans R&B ensemble Creole String Beans, a reunion of local barroom rockers $1,000 Car (featuring Derek Huston, Rob Savoy, Jake Flack and others) and Flack's Washington, D.C.-based Southern soul band, King Soul.
