May 17 | The Los Angeles group established itself in the 1990s with jam band fans for its party-ready fusion of garage rock, Latin sounds (including what it dubs electro-cumbia), and hip-hop. The band released its eighth studio album, Place in the Sun, in March. The Soul Rebels open at 10 p.m. at Tipitina's.

Wed. May 14 | Mysticism and mass suffering are just two things ancient Egypt shares with heavy metal, making Nile's deathly fusion seem almost natural. The venerable Greenville, South Carolina, degenerates roar equally hilarious and terrifying scrolls ("Enduring the Eternal Molestation of Flame") on seventh LP At the Gate of Sethu (Nuclear Blast). Necrotic Priapism, The Art of the Process and Moonhoar open at 9 p.m. at Siberia.
