Louisiana Bucket Brigade hosts Earth Day Festival

The Louisiana Bucket Brigade (LBB) hosts the New Orleans Earth Day Festival from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. April 22 at The Maison (508 Frenchmen St.). The event includes performances from Big Sam's Funky Nation and N'awlins Johnnys and appearances by the Big Easy Rollergirls.

Environmental groups, including co-sponsoring organization the Gulf Restoration Network, will be available to discuss statewide environmental efforts. Event sponsors also include Let's Be Totally Clear and Gambit.

LBB is a nonprofit environmental justice and health group that works with refineries and chemical and petrochemical plants to address air quality improvements. The group collects "buckets," 5-gallon containers filled with air samples that are sent to laboratories for testing.

Event admission is $10. Proceeds benefit the Environmental Justice Corps Fellowship and help the LBB collect "buckets." Visit www.labucketbrigade.org for more information.
