Self-taught (and, incidentally, blind) pianist Marcus Roberts is known for his mastery of the work of jazz greats, particularly New Orleans musicians. He plays to his strong suit on his March release New Orleans Meets Harlem, Vol. 1. His longtime trio includes two stellar New Orleans musicians, drummer Jason Marsalis and bassist Roland Guerin.
