McDonald's Williams Sisters Tour

Venus and Serena (pictured) Williams will play an exhibition match to raise money for the local Ronald McDonald Houses and other local charities. The two sisters have dominated the world of women's professional tennis in recent years, becoming the only sisters to simultaneously hold the first and second spot in the world rankings. For six straight years, each has won at least one grand slam title. From 2000 to 2005, at least one of the sisters appeared in the Wimbledon final match, and they faced each other in five of six grand slam finals during a period from 2002 to 2003. Now they face each other at the New Orleans Arena after visits to the local Ronald McDonald House and Joseph C. Clark High School. The evening will also feature musical performances by Irma Thomas and Marques Houston. The event is expected to generate $100,000 for local charities, including a donation of $50,000 worth of shoes from Nike to the New Orleans Recreation Department. Tickets $24-$149. -- Will Coviello
