New Orleans Bookfair

Barrister's Gallery hosts the 5th annual New Orleans Bookfair, a collection of independent publishers, small presses, authors, artists and alternative media producers. Participants from more than 65 local and national publishers represent all sorts of media, including books, zines, comics and more. Attendees include AK Press, Last Gasp, Soft Skull, Anarchy Magazine and the Neighborhood Story Project. The daylong event features readings and performances by local and national authors, musical interludes by Why Are We Building Such a Big Ship, plus food, drink and more. In conjunction with the Bookfair, the Babylon Lexicon art show presents works using bound books or printed narrative as mediums of visual expression. The bookfair is presented by Barrister's Gallery, Zeitgeist, The Market Umbrella, Hot Iron Press, Saturn Screenprinting, Garret County Press and Get Lost Books. Free admission. -- Will Coviello
