In New Orleans there is truly a festival for everyone, even for those who just mastered walking. The New Orleans Film Society and the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival present the New Orleans International Children's Film Festival. The weekend of screenings features more than 100 animated, live-action and documentary films from around the world, including
Bear Factory,
The Red Balloon, and the anime classic
Kiki's Delivery Service. The goal, says Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival Director Dan Bennett, is to introduce children and teens to different cultures, along with different creative filmmaking and animation techniques. There are also animation workshops. Films screen at Vintage, the loft space above Savvy Gourmet. Free admission to most films. Tickets for Kiki's Delivery Service (6:30 p.m. Sat., Aug. 16) $5 adults, $2 children.
