New Program Improving Health Technology

Public and private health care organizations across Louisiana have collaborated in the Crescent City Beacon Community (CCBC), one of 17 health programs nationwide seeking to speed development of the use of electronic services within the medical community. It is funded by the Beacon Community Program.

In January, the CCBC designed "txt4health," which offers personalized messages to assess members' risk levels for Type 2 diabetes and helps them manage their overall health. New Orleans is the first city to implement a health program of this kind. For details, visit www.crescentcitybeacon.org.
