In last week's cover story, we erroneously stated that Omni Pinnacle hired former New Orleans Chief Administrative Officer Charles Rice and then was awarded a lucrative debris removal contract. Rice actually left city government on July 30, 2005. Omni was selected for the contract in late August, more than a month after Rice left City Hall and shortly before Katrina hit. In addition, Omni retained the law firm of Barrasso Usdin Kupperman Freeman & Sarver, where Rice works as an attorney, several weeks after the storm. Gambit Weekly
regrets the error.
Also, in last week's "Top 10 Political Stories of 2005," Clancy DuBos incorrectly wrote that federal agents raided the home of Jacques Morial last Valentine's Day. The raid in fact occurred on Feb. 14 -- but the year was 2004. Our sincerest apologies for the error.
