Just in time for the holidays, artists in both Mid-City and Bywater host Open Studio Days. Just like the Warehouse District's first-Saturday-of-the-month opening receptions and art walk, galleries, studio spaces and other alternative art-displaying venues open their doors to the public, and artists are on hand to talk about their work (Liquid Sky by Violet Skye is pictured). In Bywater, Marigny, St. Roch, Treme and the Lower Quarter, more than 25 artists have participated in several Open Studio Days since Katrina. A list of participating artists, venues and a map is available on the Web site www.openstudioartists.org
. In Mid-City, a converted warehouse space shared by more than 30 artists will be open on Saturday afternoon only, and there will be refreshments available and music by the Desoto Street Band. Free admission. -- Will Coviello Open Studio Days
