Oysters and oenophiles
In conjunction with the Oyster Festival, Bourbon House (144 Bourbon St., 522-0111; www.bourbonhouse.com) hosts its own annual Wine & Gulf Oyster Pairing on Wednesday, May 30, asking people to sample select wines with local oysters and vote for their favorite pairing. Participants pay $15 and get a half dozen oysters and tasting portions of five white wines, served in a blind tasting. The pairing is held in a private dining room from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and participants may arrive at any point in that timeframe. Reservations are recommended. The winning pairing will be posted to the restaurant's blog, www.chefslagniappe.com.
