Pho-Noi-Viet

The ranks of Uptown options for pho and banh mi have grown again with the recent opening of Pho-Noi-Viet (2005 Magazine St., 522-3399).

Found in a newly-renovated storefront, Pho-Noi-Viet is a family-run restaurant from Kim and Vinh Vu. In 2010, Vu helped open Pho King, a Vietnamese restaurant inside the Lost Love Lounge and run by Ariana Ybarra. It later was taken over by the Lost Love Lounge owners, who now run it and simply call it "the Vietnamese Kitchen at the Lost Love Lounge." Vinh Vu explains that the plan for Pho Noi Viet came about after he and his wife saw how popular Vietnamese food had become around New Orleans. They serve a traditional Vietnamese noodle-shop menu, with pho and other soups, spring rolls, banh mi and rice noodle salads.

The new eatery is the fourth Vietnamese restaurant to open Uptown in recent months, following Le Viet Cafe (2135 St. Charles Ave., 304-1339), Magasin Cafe (4201 Magazine St., 896-7611; www.-magasincafe.com) and Lilly's Cafe (1813 Magazine St., 599-9999).

Pho-Noi-Viet is BYOB if you want to drink anything stronger than the potent French-drip coffee. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner every day except Monday.
