The Pine Leaf Boys not only is one of the finest neo-traditional Cajun acts going, the members, apparently are also some of the nicest. Frontman and accordionist Wilson Savoy recently wrote a sincere and heartfelt blog post on the band's Web site in support of fellow Lafayette residents Feufollet, who were passed over for a Grammy nomination this year. "Feufollet's latest CD is the most awesome album to be released in Louisiana in our genre," Savoy wrote. Of course, the Pine Leaf Boys can afford to be generous; the band recently received its second nod from the Recording Academy in the new Cajun/Zydeco category for the 2008 album Homage au Passé. The group was nominated in the category's inaugural year for 2007's Blues de Musicien. Steeped in tradition, its Cajun-French amalgam infuses classic sounds with all of the riches southwestern Louisiana has to offer: zydeco, bayou swamp pop, soul and a touch of citified R&B boogie. The group deserves all of the accolades that have come its way. Tickets $5. — Fensterstock
