presents Blue Ladies of the River with Theresa Andersson, Lynn Drury and Olga

Marc Stone is becoming known for his collaborations. His tasty guitar licks, which straddle blues and rock, have added texture and power to shows by sacred steel titans the Campbell Brothers, Shannon McNally and the late Harry Hypolite. Such efforts have led to his "Louisiana Blues Throwdown" shows that go late and crackle with energy. On Friday, he returns to the Old Point Bar to feature three great female musicians. Theresa Andersson (pictured) can go from delicate violin to full-throated rock with ease and poise. Lynn Drury, pre-Katrina one of the great songbirds of the French Quarter, is back with her low-voiced drawl and poignant lyrics. Olga, best known for her work with the late blueswoman Jessie Mae Hemphill, can more than hold her own with her vocal range and nimble guitar work. The thought of these three ladies and their voices wafting over the levee above the Mississippi River should make this one of Stone's best combinations yet. Tickets $10 at the door, $7 in advance at www.marcstonemusic.com. -- David Kunian
