Earth, Wind & Fire (pictured), ZZ Top and Joe Cocker are among the headliners at Gretna Heritage Festival. More than 70 bands perform on seven stages spread throughout the 25-block area of downtown Gretna, which is transformed into festival grounds for the weekend. The lineup typically features throwbacks from the 1970s and '80s, this year including Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears, and bands from across the spectrum of Louisiana music. Some of the local favorites include Tab Benoit, Amanda Shaw & the Cute Guys, Kermit Ruffins & the Barbecue Swingers, Rockin' Dopsie & the Zydeco Twisters, Marcia Ball, Tommy Malone, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the Wild Magnolias, Deacon John and Glen David Andrews. The Italian village and the German beer garden both have their own food and music. Other areas include a food court, arts and crafts market, amusement rides and more. Visit www.gretnafest.com for schedule and details. Tickets $15 in advance, $20 at the gate, weekend pass $40 in advance, $50 at the gate. — WILL COVIELLO
