What seems like a shtick-y name — get ready for "dubshtep" — is actually perfect. Henry Laufer, aka Shlohmo, does nothing in real time: The 24-year-old Los Angeles DJ and producer absorbs his synths, samples and massage-chair vibrations and doles them out over a sink-drip analgesic haze, the polar opposite of Skrillex's amphetamine spikes. On his 2010 debut Shlomoshun Deluxe, Laufer worked like a playful video-game programmer; by the next year's Bad Vibes, he had relaxed his grip and moved on to a different kind of bedroom pop, slipping the nighttime supernaturalism of low-end theorist Flying Lotus into Erykah Badu's 1,000-thread-count sheets. The EPs Vacation (2012) and Laid Out (2013), issued through Laufer's Friends of Friends and Wedidit constellations, show an embry- onic, James Blake-like development taking place: "Don't Say No" introduces unprocessed vocals care of How to Dress Well male ingenue Tom Krell, and the electro-operatic "Later" gives Shlohmo a production showcase on par with "The Wilhelm Scream" or "Limit to Your Love." Laufer's most exciting work may be compiling on his SoundCloud page, an auditory resume filled with stunning remixes of Little Dragon, Aaliyah, The Weeknd and Drake, the concept of streaming taken quite literally. Jim-E Stack and D33J open. Tickets $13 in advance, $15 day of show. — Noah Bonaparte Pais
