Robert Warrens: The Pond

It's all happening at the ... pond? Well, it was a pond called Walden that did it for Thoreau, and now a pond across the lake in Mandeville seems to have also done it for Robert Warrens. A well-known painter of fantastic, pop-expressionist vistas, Warren has long been inspired by nature. Now ensconced in his new West Indies-style studio/home with porches and woods all around, nature comes to him. There he studies the trees, the light and rain, the frogs, spiders, deer, foxes and a resident rat snake, all of which are reborn in burnished neon shades from the far regions of the color spectrum. It has been said that the psyche of our dreams and imagination is the last undomesticated place in the mind where nature still holds sway. Warrens keeps it wet and wild.
