School-based Health Clinics
by Kandace Power GravesThe GE Foundation has given the Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) $2 million to fund school-based health centers in Orleans Parish schools.
The grant, part of GE's Developing Health program to improve access to primary care for children in underserved communities, will underwrite a program led by School Health Connection to increase students' use of the clinics and improve their health, decrease pressure on local emergency rooms and extend clinic services to nearby schools, family members and neighborhood residents.
