While you're shopping in the French Quarter, take a break at Bayona (430 Dauphine St., 525-4455) and enjoy its annual lunch special that features any soup or a Bayona salad and any lunch entree for $16, plus 16-cent classic vodka or gin martinis (limit of three per person). Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The French jewelry maker Cartier is donating $75,000 and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of its new LOVE collection bracelets to Mercy Corps, an international humanitarian agency that has supported relief and recovery efforts in the Gulf Region since Hurricane Katrina. Cartier is donating the $75,000 in recognition of R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe's charitable efforts after the musician donated all proceeds from his recording, "Into the Sun," to Mercy Corps' Gulf recovery programs. Cartier jewelry is available through a host of local jewelry stores.

The Catholic Book Store, currently housed in a trailer on the corner of Fig Street and Carrollton Avenue (861-7504) is having a used book fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 24, on the lawn beside the trailer. The fair will include spiritual works as well as popular reading materials for all ages.

Juanita's Shoes, Handbags & Accessories (721 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, 834-9511) is offering 20 percent off on all shoes, sandals, pumps, party shoes, thongs, slippers and mules.

The Neighborhood Gallery (1410 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., 524-8800) is having a huge moving sale in the art gallery, collectible shop, theater and the owners' home. Sculptures and crafts by gallery artists are included as well as original paintings at a discount. Plastic outdoor chairs are $3 each, others $5 each, two pianos are for sale as well as a range of tables, fur coats, jukebox, freezer, beds, office supplies and more. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. daily or by appointment.

Shop Symmetry Jewelers & Designers (8138 Hampson St., 861-9925) during a summer sale that includes discounts on selected gallery collections and artists' works.

It's not too late to take advantage of a summer special at Tapas Yoga (4413 Chastant St., Metairie, 256-5255): three months of unlimited yoga for $250. You must sign up before the end of June; the offer includes unlimited classes for 90 days from date of purchase.
