On Saturday, Oct. 14, The Big Top (1638 Clio St., 569-2700) will host "Art for Co-op's Sake," an art auction and benefit for the New Orleans Food Co-op, a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide healthy, affordable groceries while supporting local and regional food production. The event will feature works by local and world-renowned artists such as Herman Leonard and Michalopoulos, along with music, food and more. Bring cash or a check to take your art home that night. Ballin's Ltd. (721 Dante St., 866-4367) will host a Robert Rodriguez trunk show Oct. 13-14 featuring contemporary feminine pieces that exude sophistication.

The new Balli Gallery (1201 E. Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette, 279-7338) is the first art gallery to open in St. Bernard Parish. It features a combination of art, custom framing, home decor and designer jewelry with a Cajun flair.

CC's Coffee (2800 Esplanade Ave., 482-9865) has reopened in Mid-City. The flooded property got a complete overhaul, including a brand new interior, a new paint job and fresh landscaping. A grand opening event is scheduled for Nov. 10.

Making up for a dearth of teaching supply shops in the metro area, the Teacher Stop (4315 Bienville St., 483-7867) will open its doors on Oct. 12. The store has educational tools and supplies for students and teachers, including games, CDs, books, project needs and more.

Style Lab for Men (3641 Magazine St., 304-5072) has opened a second location in Baton Rouge's Town Centre (7425 Corporate Blvd., Baton Rouge, 225-757-6131). Stop in to either location to see new arrivals from Diesel, G-Star, Nice Collective and Paul Smith.

There's a big sale at Humbug (5707 Williams Blvd., Kenner, 469-3339) with 20 percent off jeans by Miss Me, Level 99, Polo, X-Ray and Seven, plus 50 percent off assorted dance shoes, leotards and BCBGirls clothing. Be sure to check out the store's Halloween costumes, too.

Winn-Dixie is scheduled to reopen its Chalmette store (3300 Paris Road, 271-4664; www.winn-dixie.com) on Oct. 12. Winn-Dixie President and CEO Peter Lynch came to New Orleans to celebrate the reopening of the supermarket chain's Gentilly location (4600 Chef Menteur Hwy., 244-0701) last month.
