On Thursday, March 18, Project Red Light presents its fifth annual fashion show, featuring garments from The Villa, The Red Carpet, The Edge and other apparel stores. The show starts at 5 p.m. at Benedict's Plantation (1144 N. Causeway Blvd., Mandeville, 985-626-4557; www.benedictsplantation.net). Live entertainment, a martini bar, food and live and silent auctions complete the fashion extravaganza, themed "Extraordinary Women." Proceeds go to the Project Red Light foundation, which benefits Beth Giacone in her fight against Lou Gehrig's disease. Tickets are $50 and may be purchased at Buzy Bodies (832 E. Be Minxed, a manicure/pedicure that consists of an application of flexible film customized with metallics, graphics or photo-quality designs, is now available at Belladonna Day Spa (2900 Magazine St., 891-4393; www.belladonnadayspa.com). The nail application, a favorite of Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Rihanna, costs $55 for a manicure and $75 for a pedicure.

The Crescent City Depression Glass Society's (392-5887; www.crescentcityglass.org) 34th annual show and sale takes place Saturday, March 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, March 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pontchartrain Center (4545 Williams Blvd., Kenner, 465-9985; www.pontchartraincenter.com). Pottery, vintage jewelry and glass, pressed glassware and other collectibles will be available.

Baobab Leadership Institute is holding a fundraiser gala Friday, March 12, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Louisiana Children's Museum (420 Julia St., 523-1357; www.lcm.org). Proceeds will finance a trip for local students from underserved schools to go to Ghana, where they will receive leadership training. Hors d'oeuvres, live music, cocktails and a silent auction of items from local artists, businesses and retailers round out the evening. Tax-deductible tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
