Solar Boating Race 

  Sailing the Milneburg Joy, a team of University of New Orleans (UNO) engineering students won the 2010 World Championship of Intercollegiate Solar Boating, a series of regatta races featuring solar-powered or solar- and electric-powered vessels. Twelve teams competed June 9-13 in Fayetteville, Ark., and UNO took home the Collegiate World Champion title. Boats also were judged on design, appearance and workmanship.

  Team members included students from UNO's School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering. — Alex Woodward
