Support the United Way for Greater New Orleans

While some reports suggest that southeast Louisiana has not suffered as much economic hardship as other parts of the country, the United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area tells a different story. The nonprofit "safety net" organization projects a $500,000 shortfall in its annual campaign. To help reach this year's goal, the United Way has extended its annual drive and is asking for immediate support from area individuals and businesses.

Gambit is proud to support United Way, and we ask all our readers and advertisers who have not yet joined this year's campaign to do so. "Vital agencies such as Second Harvest Food Bank, Dryades YMCA, Kingsley House and St. Bernard Project all depend on United Way for funding," says local United Way CEO Gary Ostroske. "Our campaign goal is driven by the needs of our community. Our goal is attainable, but it will take everyone working together to close the gap."

One of the best reasons to support the local United Way is the organization's longstanding commitment that every dollar raised here stays here. Every dollar counts. Please give today at, or call the United Way at 827-6814 to contribute.
