"The Art of Tasting" 

The Consulate General of France in New Orleans and the Southern Food and Beverage Museum are planning a dinner event called 'The Art of Tasting" at the Mélange restaurant in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on June 19. The menu and wine pairings will be selected by Jacques Puisais (pictured), founder of the 'Institut du Gožt," or 'Taste Institute," in Paris, along with Mélange chef Matt Murphy. Puisais will discuss his ideas on the 'philosophy of taste" during the dinner, with the aid of a French translator. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the cost is $125 per person, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the museum. — Ian McNulty
