owner of Harrah's New Orleans Casino, has made it possible for thousands of kids to enjoy Audubon Nature Institute attractions this summer. The company bought 30,000 tickets to Audubon facilities -- the Zoo, Aquarium of the Americas, Entergy IMAX Theatre, and Louisiana Nature Center. Tickets are distributed to youths involved in NORD camps and in Summer Witness, an education program serving Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany and St. Bernard parishes.
Tulane's baseball team
pulled off an impressive string of "bests" and "firsts" this year: the Green Wave appeared in its first College World Series after hosting its first NCAA regional and super regional, and achieved the best NCAA record in the nation at 56-13, setting a school record in the process. Tulane ended its dream season with losses to Stanford and then Cal State-Fullerton last week at the CWS in Omaha, Neb.

which owns the Rault Center downtown, has been slapped with city fines after metal panels again dropped off the downtown building. Last week, a 40-pound chunk fell from the vacant 17-story tower, damaging an office building before hitting the sidewalk. A city inspector later found five loose panels. The company says it secured the Rault Center's panels after similar incidents last year and in 1998, but the city has ordered more extensive measures.
