John Jay,
Lambeth House
recently became the
first continuing care retirement community in the state to become accredited
by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. In passing the national organization's
rigorous standards of review, Lambeth House became one of only 340 such facilities
among thousands nationwide to earn the distinction. The Uptown facility offers
assisted living, independent living and skilled nursing care to its residents.

a junior
at Louise S. McGehee School, has launched "Operation Shoebox New Orleans," which
gathers shoeboxes packed with recommended supplies for troops in the Middle East.
Cian organized a volunteer committee of students, teachers and parents in the
effort, which will collect boxes through May 7. The filled boxes will then be
sent to the New Orleans-based 377th Theater Support Command Army Unit.

office. The audit says the assessors' practices cause some property owners to
pay too much tax while others don't pay enough.
