The vacation, which includes traveling to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, spending an evening with Hagar and Lagasse and a private concert, was auctioned off for $115,000. The entire evening netted $2 million for local children's charities.

The Nagin Administration
approved the state's request to fence off Duncan Plaza this week. The plaza, an open area across the street from City Hall, has become a tent city for about 240 homeless people. The city's Department of Property Management office had been in discussions with the state regarding the project since early October but failed to alert the City Council or local homeless advocates about the potential closing of the plaza until Friday, Nov. 30.
