There were 749 armed robberies in the first nine months of 2015, according to New Orleans Uniform Crime Reporting statistics — a nearly 3 percent increase from the same time span in 2014.

  The recent holiday season saw more than 100 armed robberies, continuing a trend as people are more likely to be carrying cash and other gifts during the holidays.

  In 2014, there was a 37 percent increase in armed robberies from the previous year, from 744 in 2013 to more than 1,000 the following year.
