Theresa Andersson with Allen Toussaint

As with Ernie K-Doe, Irma Thomas, Lee Dorsey and countless others, we may have Allen Toussaint to thank for Theresa Andersson. "He was the first music I heard from New Orleans, really," says Andersson, who moved here from her native Sweden in 1990. The Basin Street songstress fulfilled one dream when she recorded a bonus track with the R&B legend during her Hummingbird, Go! sessions in fall 2007. On Sunday, she'll welcome her "musical hero" onstage to perform together for the first time.

The gig presents another first for Andersson: her first concert film, titled Theresa Andersson: Live at Le Petit. "I've been touring with a one-woman show for close to two years now," she says. "I really wanted to do this as a celebration more than anything. A lot of times when I play live, there's a few songs I didn't record on Hummingbird, Go! that I want to have available, and this Allen Toussaint song ("Now I Know") is one of them. Moving forward, I'm now writing a new record and my show is going to change a little bit. I wanted to make sure that I really captured this moment in my journey."
