Touro Infirmary (1401 Foucher St., 897-7011; www.touro.com) is collecting books and DVDs related to cancer for its Patient Resource Library in its Supportive Cancer Care Center. Outpatients who have been diagnosed with cancer or are in treatment are given the materials free of charge.
"The holiday season is a time for giving," says Elizabeth Dalferes, a communications specialist at Touro. "We want the New Orleans community to know that they can truly make a difference and give the gift of a book to someone in need."
Cancer-related books and DVDs (either new or used but in excellent condition) can be delivered to the medical center or shipped to Touro Infirmary, Attn: Robert Gardner, 1401 Foucher St., New Orleans, LA 70115, or you can send a donation to the Patient Resource Library at the same address. — Graves
