Treme Creole Gumbo Festival

The food and music at the Treme Creole Gumbo Festival are home cooked. Among the performers who grew up in the neighborhood are Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews (pictured), Glen David Andrews and James "Twelve" Andrews. Also performing are Kermit Ruffins, Shamarr Allen and the Joe Krown Organ Trio featuring Walter "Wolfman" Washington and Russell Batiste. Chef Leah Chase will preside over cooking demonstrations and there will be several varieties of gumbo to sample. Free admission. — Will Coviello
