More than 750 people braved the rain and cold Thanksgiving morning to start their holiday with a 5K run or 1-mile walk/run in the 96th annual Turkey Day Race in City Park. A local tradition that is the nation's oldest continuously held non-marathon race, the New Orleans Athletic Club-sponsored event was a charitable benefit for the Spina Bifida Association and the Foundation for Entertainment Development and Education, which promotes the performing arts among local youth.
