What makes food "organic"?

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), any agricultural products products labeled "100% Organic" must be made with only organic ingredients and through organic processing materials (with the exclusion of water and salt).

Products labeled only "organic" must be made with at least 95% percent organic ingredients.

Processed products, like canned soups and frozen meals that are labeled "made with organic ingredients" must contain at least 70% organic ingredients and list the top three organic ingredients prominently on the label.
