Wine of the Week

It hasn't been a month since the 2001 Beaujolais Nouveau landed stateside, but the young wines will be nearly extinct by Christmas. George Duboeuf, known as the king of Beaujolais Nouveau, released a well-rounded, ripe-fruited one this year. Like all Nouveaus, it comes closer to juice than a fine red wine, but it makes a fine companion to food. While the traditional American pairing is a chilled Nouveau with Thanksgiving turkey, you'll certainly find a suitable replacement during the following weeks of feasting. Found at wine retailers throughout the New Orleans metropolitan area. -- Roahen
